Purpose We investigate the factors that affect adult’s acceptance of ICT Products, Applications and Services (PAS) based on the Perceived Ease of Use (PEU) and Perceived Usefulness (PU) constructs on adults in South Western Nigeria
Design/methodology/approach The ICT products, services and applications selected for the study are the use electronic mails, web access (internet for commercial, education and social purposes), cell phones, Ipods, ATMs and electronic Banking Platforms. A multi-item questionnaire for PEU and PU was pre-tested, validated and administered.
Findings Findings from the study showed that the fear of using technology is subsumed by the benefits accruable from usage among adults. Studying how adults adopt and use technology is therefore premised on the fact that adults must keep up with technological advancements to be able to function effectively in the information age. This study gave insights into subtle but important factors that affect ICT adoption and usage among adults.
Practical and Policy implications We recommend for policy and practice the creation of comfortable and acceptable use environment that will provide positive experiences with ICT products and applications among the target group.
