Brief Company Profile

The Bureau of Market & Social Research Ltd. (the firm) was incorporated in 2009 and was founded by its current Executive Director, Isaac Gwumah. The company has a knowledge partner, the University of Applied Management(Germany) and a Technology Partner, Research on Mobile. It is affiliated with the Chartered Institute of Marketing (Ghana).

The Firm is a multi-disciplinary team of Management Consultants specializing in: Market Research, Socio-Economic Research, Business Development Services, Monitoring and Evaluation and Due Diligence. The Firm currently has five(5) Senior Consultants: Mssrs. Isaac Gwumah, Martin Gyambrah (PhD), Nana Oppong(PhD), Richard Boateng (PhD) and Ebenezer Okyere (PhD).

The Firm has built a strong reputation in Ghana for leading-edge market and social research founded on a unique blend of methodological rigour and pragmatic survey administration. Working closely with both for-profit and not-for-profit organisations, the Firm has developed a fail-safe range of tools, skills and experience which is well-suited to the peculiar dynamics of the Ghanaian social and cultural context.  The competence of the Firm’s in-house personnel are strongly complimented by over twenty Associate Consultants and Specialists with expertise in market research across both commercial and non-commercial areas.

In developing its methodologies and research methods, the Firm has relied on its experiential understanding of Ghana’s multi-ethnic diversity and acutely heterogeneous social groups, and the implications of this for sampling strategy and survey administration. It is instructive to note that regional and other geographic differences as well as demographic and economic disparities across Ghana make local knowledge of the socio-economic research terrain imperative for market research. Based on our experiences from survey research we have conducted in the past we have devised numerous way of quality assuring data including: data triangulation, sample weighting techniques etc.

It is the key strategic preserve of local knowledge and an extended network of over 30 field officers that makes the Firm exceptional. Our knowledge and network across the local terrain coupled with rigorous questionnaire development and piloting has earned as enviable records on response rates for surveys we have done in the past. We have averaged 93% response rate on our face-to-face surveys in Ghana (weighting not factored in) compared to an average response rate of 69% for other research firms in Ghana.
