What started out as a personal hobby is gradually shaping out to be one of Ghana’s most promising software development firms. Softbase is an idea birthed by 3 young guys who believed given the adequate resources and opportunities, the African can stage a claim on the global Information Technology landscape. Backed by a strong desire to learn, contribute and stay on top of their game, the team set out to challenge the status quo by establishing Softbase. Today, software developed by the team is paving way through the doors of Ghanaian businesses and gaining wide acclaim.

Softbase has a good range of software products under its three focus areas: Education, Software Development and Research. Our keystone product has been SMBase – an independent SMS management system. SMBase rivals any global SMS management system with an added advantage: it does not require the internet to work and grants the user unparalleled control over SMS management including interactivity with other systems.

In the area of education, Softbase has made available an interesting past question interactive application which is distributed via CD and replicated online. This past question application dubbed Exceed! now has an SMS tweak to it (Exceed!SMS) and runs on SMBase. It allows students to create an interactive session of sending SMS for questions and sending back answers in response to the questions they received. Softbase education provides other educational software including Library management software, Interactive Yearbook application (electronic records of photos and information on final year students distributed via CD) and an Interactive Tutorial CD for main stream education (still in development).

Softbase development under its two main sections (stand-alone applications and web development) has developed a number of products including a payroll package, a remittance system, payment gateway and an online NHIS (Health Insurance) registration and management system.

Softbase research ensures our development and education divisions remain in tune with current development practices providing the platform for working in cohesion using time tested and state of the art technologies to better serve our purpose. Current research efforts are geared towards animation and mobile phone development.

Our key goal is to contribute to Africa’s fledgling IT industry and together with other players in the industry ensure Africa becomes an eventual leader and pacesetter. We provide the best solutions for our clients and daily strive to achieve our lifetime ambition of making Africa central to global IT.

Johnny Parker (CEO of Softbase) is an Oracle Certified Professional and holds a B.Sc. in Computer Science from KNUST. Johnny is a software developer and has a number of software applications currently being used in the day-to-day operations of some organizations. He loves reading and playing scrabble.
